Microsoft 2010 vs Google Docs

Microsoft has recently launched the Microsoft office 2010 which has led to the intensification of the battle between Microsoft and Google. With their inclusion of Office Web Apps which is available for free along with the new versions of Word, Power Point and new added features where one can collaborate documents and connect the email contacts to information from Facebook has seen a massive uplift and modification from the previous versions of Microsoft Office. They have added photo-editing feature in Word and has now enabled the use of videos in Power Point while at the same time one can manipulate documents from different servers remotely. This enables users to access the online version of Office and work on them accordingly. Microsoft would be launching a freemium version of this software which would be available online for free for ordinary people unless they want to buy the full version which would give them added features. Google were the set pioneers for this feature with the introduction of Google Docs which is being used widely by millions of internet users. This has led to a head on battle between the two giants with both of them trying to dominate over the other. Even though Google Apps has been widely used in the business world, Microsoft has always been the dominating player mainly in the hardware and software field with their Office 2007 which is used in over 80 per cent of businesses.

This is a major facelift for Microsoft which mainly focused on Windows, Office and operating systems along with other business suites. Google on the other hand who were mainly known for their search engines are now coming out with their own version Chrome OS which is said to compete against Windows 7. However, Microsoft seems pretty confident about the popularity of the new product with around 8 million people who have already tested the product. June would thus be an interesting month for Microsoft which would prove whether Microsoft can still be the stand strong in the computing world and surpass the pertaining players in their respective fields.
