Here ends the anticipation and speculation for a much awaited movie Sucker Punch directed by Zack Synder who has earlier created unique works like 300, Dawn of the Dead, Watchmen and many more. Now, the expectations end in disappointment or appreciation, let us decide.

Sucker Punch is an entirely directorial discovery that offers a visual treat to the viewers with some very exciting action sequences. The story revolves around a young girl, Babydoll’s (Emily Browning) vibrant imagination who tries to escape from the gloomier actuality of life. The unbelievable journey that she shadows, hazes the lines between the real and imaginative world. In her fight for freedom, she needs four other young girls Rocket (Jena Malone), Blondie (Vanessa Hudgens), Amber (Jamie Chung), and Sweet Pea (Ambie Cornish). The movie focuses on self-empowerment and disassociation from reality. It is technically very impressive and offers exceptional visual thrills.

The story lacks soul, the characters portray depthless and cliché personalities and there is not much room left for character development. Talking about the performances, you will find nothing remarkable in store except that the girls looking fatal and sexy. Oscar Issac plays the main antagonist and has successfully added a tinge of emotion to the film. With poor nonexistent connection between the shots, the film also has a deficit of momentum and storyline. Giving some importance to the music segment, it is a relief that the soundtracks are just excellent. The opening prelude is very influential and adds a spark to the continuing stuff.

The concept is really interesting, but I wish it could be carried forward in the right direction. Even till the end, there continues a state of confusion, leaving the audience unclear all the time. At times you will feel that you are inside a videogame but without a motive. Overall, waiting for Zack Synder’s next venture Superman is a far better decision.
